Il breve documentario che segue – recentemente prodotto dalle Nazioni Unite – affronta la questione spesso trascurata del discernimento delle vittime di tratta, operazione che dovrebbe avvenire al momento del soccorso e dell’accoglienza – su cui l’Italia ha molto da fare, come testimoniano gli scioccanti fatti di questi giorni. D’altronde, degli orrori perpetrati a Lampedusa si sa da anni, e ciò che finora ha impedito una soluzione vera è la mancanza di una strategia seria e lungimirante, tanto da parte dell’Europa che dei vari governi italiani, che negli anni hanno alternato xenofobia e indifferenza come principali risposte al tema caldo dell’immigrazione dall’Africa. Ma un altro punto che si evidenzia è che le vittime di tratta spesso sono quelle prostitute che vediamo sulle strade delle nostre città, colpevolizzate dalle nostre forze dell’ordine, quando invece i veri responsabili di questo commercio di esseri umani, cioè le “madame” e i magnaccia, la passano facilmente liscia.
The short documentary that follows – recently produced by the United Nations – addresses the often neglected issue of recognizing the victims of human trafficking, an operation that should be done at the time of an immigrant’s rescue and acceptance – which Italy has still a lot to work to do on, as evidenced by shocking facts uncovered in these last days. On the other hand, the horrors perpetrated in Lampedusa have been known about for years and, so far, what has prevented a real solution is the lack of a serious and far-sighted strategy, both by Europe and the various Italian administrations, which over the years have alternated between xenophobia and indifference as the main answer to hot issue of migration from Africa. But another noteworthy point is that victims of trafficking are often the prostitutes that we can see on our cities’ streets, helped entirely culpable by our police, while the true culprits of this trade in human beings – the “madames” and pimps – get away with it too smoothly, too often:
